Biofeedback

Today, even the most traditional physicians and healthcare professionals recognize the relationship between stress, pain, and emotional well-being. Pain resulting from either disease or injury can be associated with depression, anxiety, trauma, and/or tension and migraine headaches.

Unregulated stress can severely impair immune function, disrupt emotional wellness and induce a range of debilitating conditions, such as:

  • Insomnia
  • Excessive Anger
  • Obsessions
  • Abusive Behavior
  • Addictive behavior
  • Chronic Anxiety

Moreover, a combination of stress and pain can be a dangerous frame for physical ailments, such as:

  • Tension Headaches
  • Neck, Shoulder, and Back Pain
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Cardiovascular Problems
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Biofeedback is a non-invasive procedure that teaches patients how to alter their bodily systems (e.g., heart rate, brain waves, skin temperature, and muscle tension) as a means of reducing stress and physical pain and enhancing wellness. Simply put, biofeedback acts as a pain/stress barometer. It is usually conducted weekly for 16 sessions.
